Advanced Search to get Magazine Articles in ProQuest

ProQuest Advanced Search

  1. Select Advanced at the top left hand corner to open the Advanced Search form.
     
  2. Enter one or more keywords in the search box. Search field (e.g. Abstract, Author, Document Title, Publication Title, etc) can help to narrow down your search. You can also use the following commands to build your search statements
     
    • Phrase searching - enclose an English term in double quotation marks ("...") to ensure it is searched as a phrase
       
    • Truncation character (*) - use * for many characters. You can use use the truncation character at the beginning, the end, or in the middle of search terms e.g. Perform* will retrieve performance, performer, etc. 
       
  3. Use search operators (e.g. AND, OR, NOT) to combine different search terms.
     
  4. Mark the Full text checkbox for the "Limit to" search options to get full-text.
     
  5. Click Search.
     
  6. Select  to view abstract or full-text.
     
  7. You can also email, print, export, save the document  .

Advanced search to find magazien articles  in EBSCOhost

Ebsco Search

 

  1. EBSCO is a multi-disciplinary database which provides access to 18 databases. To search magazine articles in Times, select Business Source Premier, and click Continue.
     
  2. Enter your search term(s) in the first search box. Choose the search field from the optional Select a Field drop-down list (e.g. Author, Abstract, etc). You can also use the following commands to build your search statement.
     
    • Phrase searching - enclose an English term in double quotation marks ("...") to ensure it is searched as a phrase
       
    • Truncation(*) - stands for any number of characters at the end of a word.
      e.g., comput* will find articles that contain computer, computers, computing or computerize.
       
  3. Select a Boolean operator (AND, OR, NOT) to combine different search terms.
     
  4. Make sure you put Times in the search box, and select SO Publication Name from the Select a Field drop down menu.
     
  5. Refine your search by Limiters if necessary.
     
  6. Click Search.
     
  7. On the result page, click on the article title to view abstract and to get the full-text Use Alert/Save/Share to export the article.
