How to Search Articles in ProQuest

ProQuest Advanced Search

  1. Select Advanced at the top left hand corner to open the Advanced Search form.
  2. Enter one or more keywords in the search box. Search field (e.g. Abstract, Author, Document Title, Publication Title, etc) can help to narrow down your search. You can also use the following commands to build your search statements
    • Phrase searching - enclose an English term in double quotation marks ("...") to ensure it is searched as a phrase
    • Truncation character (*) - use * for many characters. You can use use the truncation character at the beginning, the end, or in the middle of search terms e.g. Perform* will retrieve performance, performer, etc. 
  3. Use search operators (e.g. AND, OR, NOT) to combine different search terms.
  4. Mark the Full text checkbox for the "Limit to" search options to get full-text.
  5. To limit the search results, you can select Source Type to Magazines, Newspaper, Scholarly Journal, etc.
  6. Click Search.
  7. Select  to view abstract or full-text.
  8. You can also email, print, export, save the document  .
