Using E-books: Springer Link

E-books for research use.

Mobile Compatible: The SpringerLink site is optimized for viewing on any device, including PCs, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. Also, SpringerLink apps are available for downloading and viewing e-book contents on both iOS and Android devices.
Users: Unlimited simultaneous users
Subjects: Science, Engineering, Technology, Medicine, Law, Business
Features: Search journals, textbooks, protocols, eReferences, book series, along with millions of other scientific documents. Register a personal account to use special personalization features such as RSS feeds, my alerts, favorites, and saved items.
Viewing Content: Built-in PDF viewer is available for content browsing
Printing: Print PDF documents
Downloading: Download content in PDF format

Navigate Springer Link Site

  1. Basic search - Enter keywords that you want to search
  2. Browse e-book titles by subject disciplines
  3. The content area showcases some of the featured items
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page (see below) to browse e-book titles by content type (journals, books, etc.)

Searching E-book on Springer Link

Basic Search:

  1. Enter a search term or phrase (entered within quotation marks, e.g. "renewable energy") into the search box and execute a basic search. It will search the title, abstract and the full text (including authors, affiliations and references) of every article, book chapter and protocol
  2. Click on the  button to go to the Advanced Search page to search specifically with customized search fields

Advanced Search:

  1. You can narrow your results by using the advanced search feature, which allows you to search for a DOI, Author or an exact phrase. It also allows you to refine your search even further by only returning results from a specific publication or date range

Create a Springer Link Account

  1. Click "Sign up/Log in"
  2. Fill out the form and click "Create Account" button to register for a new account
  3. If you already have an account, please log in with your email address and password

Springer Link App

You can download the SpringerLink app for free from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store to view e-books using your mobile device. For more information, please see here.

The SpringerLink app provides access to Springer's database of articles on topics in science, technology and engineering.

You may also download Adobe Reader from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store to view and annotate your e-books offline on your iOS or Android device.

Download and Print e-books

To download a book:

  1. Open a book record, click Download Book to download the entire e-book
  2. Enter keywords to search within the e-book
  3. Get a quick preview of the book within the web browser with the Look Inside button
  4. Here you can find a Table of Contents on the book chapters offered, click Download PDF to download a chapter or a section in PDF format

 


To download a journal article:

Journal results lead to a list of volumes and issues of that journal that are available. Note: some journal content is free and some is paid.

  1. The Browse Volumes & Issues leads back to the list of all volumes and issues available for a journal.
  2. This field allows you to search within all articles published in the journal
  3. Get a quick preview of the journal issue within the web browser with the Look Inside button
  4. Here you can find all the papers published in this issue. Click Download PDF to download an article or to view in HTML page with the View Article button

 


To print PDF file:

To print a book or journal, download the PDF file and open the file using Adobe Reader (available on all desktop and mobile platforms) or other PDF viewer. In Adobe Reader, press Ctrl + P or click File  Print in order to access the Print dialog box:

 

  1. Select your printer from the drop-down menu and adjust the printer settings by clicking on the Properties button
  2. Adjust the range of pages that you want to print, scaling, and other settings in the Print Range settings, then click OK
