Stating Your Affiliation When Publishing

Stating Your Affiliation When Publishing

The institutional affiliation in your published works is a key piece of information that helps proper collation of your work in the complex scholarly communications environment. If you do not put down your affiliation properly, indexing databases such as Scopus might not be able to recognize the work as yours; and it may negatively affect citation linking and counting.

Do's

  1. Write out the university name “The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology” in full. Include units such as department or division:
Department of Mathematics, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

  2. If you are required to include address:
Department of Mathematics, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Clear Water Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong, China.

  3. If you are affiliated with two or more schools or departments, label each affiliation separately and your primary affiliation should go first.
