ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) provides you a persistent, unique digital identifier that distinguishes you from all other researchers. It can help integrate your published work and support automated linkages between you and your professional activities (e.g. awarded grants or any research workflow) ensuring that you get credit for your work. Register on ORCID. Add details of the article to your ORCID record and link your ORCID to your other identifiers, such as Scopus or ResearcherID or LinkedIn. Create ORCID iD via HKUST System. Include your ORCID identifier when submitting papers.
Submit the pre-published version of your articles to HKUST Institutional Repository (HKUST IR) or other open access repositories, e.g. arXiv, Social Science Research Network (SSRN). The Library (for HKUST IR) or you can update your entry with a link to the published version of the record.
Add your articles to your students’ reading lists if appropriate or suggest your articles to colleagues who may find them useful for course reading.
Add links to your articles from LMES so as to increase readership of your published work.
Update your CV on HKUST Scholarly Publications Database (SPD), a personal webpage, or your departmental webpage to include links to your new publications. Add links from various websites to increase their discoverability.
Use your email signature to tell people about your new publications on every message you send out. Some publishers offer free email signature banners to authors to promote the published articles. Check with your publisher for details.
Some publishers provide a certain amount of free hard and/or soft copies to any interested readers. Check with your publisher and then post the information on your blog or academic social networks to encourage others to request/download free copies of your article.
