Bloomberg Excel Add-In is a powerful tool that allows you to deliver Bloomberg data into MS Excel spreadsheet for analysis and calculations. The Data Wizard is a handy feature to retrieve various types of data from Bloomberg.

If you are using the Excel Add-In for the first time, or if the Add-in does not appear in Excel, please follow these installation steps:

1) Log into Bloomberg using the unique Bloomberg login for each terminal.
2) Go to Desktop, open the MS Office 2016 folder, then open Excel and close it.
3) Go back to Desktop, click on the BBAddIn.exe file to install the Excel Add-In.

4) Once installed, the Bloomberg tab will appear in the Excel ribbon.

1. Click the Spreadsheet Builder icon to open the Builder.

2. Follow the steps to specify your needs.

What these mean:

• Equity and Fund Screening
  - allow you to retrieve sets of data from companies that fulfill certain criteria
   
• Blank Data Table
  - create a table of real-time data for group of securities
   
• Historical Data Table
  - create a table of historical data for group of securities
   
• Intraday Bars and Ticks
  - create a table of historical intraday data for group of securities in the form of bars or ticks

If you see the error message #N/A Review or #N/A Limit when extracting data from Bloomberg, it means the Bloomberg data download limit for the month has been used up at the terminal. (Learn more about other error codes.)

Generally speaking, there are 3 types of download limits on a Bloomberg terminal:

1. Daily Limit: 500,000 hits per day where five fields with ten securities would count as 50 hits for example. (Error code for usage exceeding daily limit: #N/A Daily)
2. Monthly Limit: 5000-7000 unique identifiers per month. (Error code for usage exceeding monthly limit: #N/A Review)
3. Real-time Limit: 3500 consecutive real time requests at any one time.

Once the monthly download limit is used up at a terminal, data cannot be downloaded until the start of next month. So, please be judicious in downloading data to avoid hitting the limits for yourself and other users.  Do not download any data more than you really need.
