Library Classification System - Life Science

The HKUST Library uses the US Library of Congress Classification Scheme for shelving arrangements. The main Life Science literature can be located in class Q (Science) under the subdivisions listed below. Life Science related materials can also be found in class GC (Oceanography), R (Medicine), S (Agriculture), and TP248.13-248.65 (Biotechnology).

Library Classification System - Chemistry

HKUST Library uses the US Library of Congress Classification System to classify materials. The main Chemistry literature can be found in the class QD (Chemistry). However, it is important to remember that Chemistry related materials can also be found in other classes such as class Q (Science General), class QC (Physics), class T (Technology-General) and class TP (Chemical Technology). The following are subdivisions of the class QD and the locations of various types of materials.

Library Classification System - Ocean Science

HKUST Library uses the US Library of Congress Classification System to classify materials. The main Ocean Science literature can be found in the class GC (Oceanography). However, due to its interdisciplinary nature, Ocean Science related materials can also be found in other classes, such as the above classes of Life Sciences and Chemistry, class GE (Environmental Sciences), class QC (Physics), class T (Technology-General) and class TC (Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering). The following are subdivisions of the class GC and the locations of various types of materials.
